Research, Awareness & Advocacy
In order to facilitate the future policies and to carry out a realistic plan before undertaking any project, HDPG has been focusing on research since its inception. For this purpose the organization conducted research and data collection surveys in different villages of district Charsadda. The collected data has been very useful in identifying problems at the grassroots. The research and data collection is a continuous process of the organization. In the awareness and advocacy campaigns, HDPG has been organizing different workshops, seminars, walks and conferences in order to motivate and mobilize the communities to achieve the objectives of the organization. In addition, the organization is conducting presentations in schools, mosques and common community places for mass awareness and education.
Human Rights
HDPG strongly believes in equal rights and opportunities for all strives for social justice, tolerance, non discrimination and non violence in the society. In our human rights campaign we are presently focussing on the following issues;
Women's Rights: The socio-economic and political uplift of women has been one of the top priorities of HDPG interventions since its inception. The organization has already established strong coordination with local Women Development Organizations WDOs, working for the welfare of the women community in their respective areas. HDPG has been striving to find innovative solutions to promote the inclusion of women at all stages of the developmental process.
For the promotion of women status and giving them equal opportunities in all walks of life, HDPG has been organizing Religious Scholar Workshops and awareness seminars to involve religious scholars in the mass advocacy and awareness campaign about women status. Such events are attended by the religious Scholars, political Leaders, parents, teachers, heads of some NGOs, members of various CBOs, elders of the area and local people. These awareness campaigns are proving very fruitfull in changing the minds of the people to recognize the role of women in the socio-economic development of the area.
Basic Education Education has been one of the major problem we are facing in the country. HDPG believes in equitable education for all men and women. HDPG wishes to conduct
appropriate research and studies, seminars, meetings and other sorts of gatherings to clarify issues of accessible education for all. Basic health is the right of every human being and HDPG believes in equal health facilities for all. Due to lack of basic health facilities in the remote areas of NWF province the people are suffering from chronic and fatal diseases. Besides, people are not aware of preventive measures. There is malnutrition, un-hygienic food and water and irregular use of local edible items. Health care for females and children is not taken as a matter of concern.
Keeping in view these facts, a program has been designed to keep the people aware and conscious of health problems. This will help them in reducing the unnecessary burden of sickness resulting from improved preventive health care practices.
HDPG is Currently involved in implementing a project, "Tarkha Community Sanitation", in the village of Tarkha, of Union Council Haji Zai, District Charsadda. The project is sponsored by Trust for Voluntary Organization (TVO). During the six month projects, HDPG has to construct 120 household latrines in village Tarkha. According to HDPG survey there are only 5% latrines available in the houses and the project will cover 40% houses of the area. It is expected that the project will significantly promote awareness about the health and hygiene education in the area.
The primary objectives of this project are:
- To provide a clean and healthy environment to the people of the project area.
- To promote the initiatives for self help in the community.
- To reduce the occurrence of epidemic diseases due to poor sanitation.

Rehabilitation of Disabled
HDPG is also striving to help relieve the miseries of the disadvantaged people especially women and children. In this regard HDPG also focused its activities on the landmine victims in collaboration with Sustainable Peace and Development Organization (SPADO). On the recommendation of SPADO, HDPG rehabilitated a landmine victim girl child named, Safia who lost both her legs and a hand in a tragic landmine incident. She was spending a miserable life in a remote village of Bajaur Agency and was hopeless of her life. HDPG provided her with best quality artificial limbs and thus rehabilitated her back in her normal life. She is now hopeful and is not dependent for her mobility on others. To review the full content just go to "Safia's Story".
Similarly HDPG is busy in rehabilitating a young girl, named Fatima who by her birth is handicapped due to "Clubfoot with Diplegic Cerebral Palsy" disease. HDPG facilitated her treatment in USA and now she has been operated in the United States and is improving day by day.
In future, HDPG will develop a comprehensive database of landmine victims in the province. The organization tries its level best to relive the sufferings of disabled children and in the coming years the organization will raise funds for the rehabilitation of disabled.
Peace & Disarmament:
Pakistan is facing security problems both from internal elements as well as from regional neighbors. The sectarian violence, terrorism and existence of wide spread small arms have been posing a serious threat to human security and development in the country. HDPG has been working for the elimination of small arms and light weapons in the society. For this purpose, the organization collected data about the landmine victims in Bajaur Agency and has been organization various awareness workshops in the province. In the future, the organization will further focus on comprehensive research on small arms and crimes in the country and will organize awareness seminars and workshops for organizations and for mass awareness.
