Message from the Founder Executive DirectorGreetings
Pakistan is facing a huge challenge of social, economic and political development. The country still struggles with high rates of infant, child and maternal mortality, adult illiteracy, poverty and insecurity. The social sector has been one of the neglected areas in the country in general and in rural areas in particular. The country is confronted with widespread small arms that has been a source of frequent violence and crimes.
These arms are frequently used in robberies, honour killings, murders, kidnapping and other personal rivalries and rivalries among different tribes. Development initiatives are greatly restricted because of the security situation. The government is committed to improving governance, rebuilding its economy, strengthening its institutions, and improving social welfare, including the status of women and disabled people in the society. But unfortunately, the ground realities remain painful due to poor governance, political and economic instability, lack of education, cultural and traditional bans, poverty and lack of opportunities. To relieve the sufferings of poor and contribute to nation building, the rapid growth of non governmental organizations (NGOs) in the past two decades is a positive indication towards self reliance and sustainable development. Today, a large number of non-governmental organizations are active all over the country in diverse areas. Though, these NGOs have had some positive impact on the lives of their targeted populations, yet a lot of efforts are needed to bring sustainable development and prosperity in human lives. The situation demands some new and innovative approach and initiatives from both governmental and non governmental organizations. The mission of Human Development Promotion Group (HDPG) is to create an ideal society based on full respect for human rights in which all men and women especially those living in poverty may exercise their rights and utilize their resources for sustainable human development. We are campaigning for a peaceful society and we are continuously seeking support to further advance our mission.
